Fondo Social del Proyecto Integral Bayóvar (FOSPIBAY) selected Prisma to be responsible for the installation of improved stoves in 23 localities in the districts of Cristo Nos Valga, Bernal, and Sechura, in the province of Sechura, with the objective of reducing the emission of smoke and ashes produced by the traditional stoves. The beneficiaries were 541 families and 12 community premises belonging to schools, community assembly halls, and the Vaso de Leche Program.
The stove used was the Inkawasi Pichqa model certified by SENCICO, while the community stove model was approved by SENCICO following laboratory tests, since certification was not available for this type of stove.
Prior to the construction process, there was a stage of promotion of the improved stoves, consisting in group education sessions in each locality, with the objective of making this new technology and its benefits known to the families; education sessions were also conducted with the families regarding the process of building an improved stove and the operation and correct maintenance of the improved stoves, to ensure that they would be used properly.
At the same time, SENCICO did two monitoring studies of the use of stoves, to establish a comparison between levels of contamination inside the house produced by the traditional stove and the improved stove.
