The “Allin Yachay” project seeks to improve the education services for students of communities located in the direct influence area of Las Bambas Mining Company by improving teaching capacities in teachers of the Regular Basic Education (EBR), providing academic support to students and fostering the participation of the families in their children education.
“Allin Yachay” helps the Las Bambas scholarship system to accomplish a greater effectiveness of the technical and professional training of students benefiting from the agreements.
Goal: Improve the education services in EBR and technical superior education in the direct influence area of Las Bambas.
Source of funding: Las Bambas Mining Company.
Scope of intervention: Challhuahuacho, Apurimac.
Duration: September 2019 – December 2019.
Expected Results:
- Students of 16 PREB of AID show improvement in achieving the goal levels in Reading Comprehension, Math and social skills.
- EBR Teachers from benefited Education Institutions have contextualized strategies for teaching and learning in Arts and Math.
- Improve the education goal levels of students of Huancuire Education Institutions
- Consolidated scholarship offer which guarantees the continuity of social movement of scholarship recipients.
- Articulated management for the provision of alphabetization service offer in 2020 through CEBA Hancuire.
Achievements:
Result 1:
- Constant assistance to children in PREBs
- Coordination with community authorities strengthened the work of PREBs and showed the support provided to education in communities.
- The teachers developed activities included in the project operation plan.
- The participation of the education institutions teachers helped to stablish technical relations with the teachers to improve the learning in vulnerable children.
Result 2:
- A training event for 600 teachers of Challhuahuacho with national experts.
- Follow up to 31 teachers which showed some processes not yet established in education.
Result 3:
- Successfully increased by 3 points the regional assessment of Apurimac – ERA as a product of pedagogic support financed by Las Bambas Mining Company
- All activities of the 2 components of the Allin Yachay program were successfully done
- Successfully respect monthly reporting done by the principals verifying the compliance of the commitments of good teacher performance which shows an increase of the number of parents attending the meetings in all three levels, which reflects an interest for their children’s education.
Result 4:
- The inventory of interest application allowed to identify the clear interest of the students by gender, which can lead to further research on the causes of such clear interests. This can be a way to hold workshops for life projects which consider the results and workshops which allow to provide more information about the careers in order to help students make decisions.
- An initial presentation through materials upon training institutions allowed a first contact with all institutions. Also, universities and institutes schedule meetings and onsite gatherings, send emails and ask for phone conversation so we can tell them about the program and they can tell us about their procedures or provide us with information.
- Most of the training institutions have well responded and delivered reports to students by mail.
- The information collected in the meetings allowed a first contact with them, the opportunity to know them better, eliminate the grant holder stereotype, understand their motivations, goals and ways to handle their difficulties. It helps to understand how to support the grant holders from the beginning and know the supporting elements which will allow them to successfully study.
