She is a professor of International Health at Johns Hopkins SPH, with over 15 years of experience working with the Santa Clara community on infectious diseases related to growth and development and clinical research projects, with funding from the NIH and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She also runs the clinical research laboratory with highly trained staff and equipment needed to make diagnoses in enteric diseases and large epidemiological studies.
Dr. Kosek began her research career as a postdoctoral fellow under the Fogarty Center’s “International Research Scientist Development Award” (IRSDA, K01 mechanism), a foundation that led to a successful career as an internationally recognized authority on enteric diseases in children, with expertise particularly in investigating the interaction between malnutrition and intestinal infections, with funding from the NIH and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
