He is an assistant professor of epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is doctor of veterinary medicine from the National University of San Marcos, Peru, with a master’s degree in international health and a doctorate in infectious disease epidemiology, both degrees obtained at Johns Hopkins University. He is a specialist in zoonotic diseases and applies the “One Health” approach for control and research of these diseases. His projects are based mainly in Peru, and he actively collaborates with the CDC in Atlanta, USA and researchers in Guatemala on infectious disease research projects in other Latin American countries. He is the co-director of the One Health Unit at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and the co-director of the Public Health Certificate Program for biomedical doctoral students at the University of Pennsylvania. He is committed to the training of new researchers and mentor students from the undergraduate to the doctorate level in Peru and the United States.
Research Subject: Vaccination programs, epidemiology and ecology of rabies and other zoonoses.
